About Scott Work

I have  practiced law in the Florida panhandle for the last 14 years assisting clients with real estate and business transactional and litigation matters.  I entered practice during the real estate boom in 2005 and my  primary practice focused on real estate transactions, development issues, and land use and entitlement procurement.  Following the recession in 2008, my practice expanded to include a litigation practice, condominium and homeowner representation, landlord and tenant, general business representation and creditor’s rights.  My clients include individuals, developers, banks, commercial landlords and tenants, businesses, franchises, and condominium and homeowner associations..  My diverse practice experience allows me to assist clients with a variety of issues and allows me to analyze the clients’ issues from multiple perspectives.

Trusting in the golden rule, I believe in treating and representing each client as I would want to be treated and represented.  I focus on understanding the clients’ needs and goals and advising them on the most economical and efficient way to reach those goals.  Through my education and experience, I believe in providing comprehensive and cost-effective legal services.

I am a fourth-generation panhandle native from Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.  I earned my bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Florida and attended law school at Florida Coastal School of Law.  I began practice at Matthews & Hawkins, P.A. in Destin, Florida and later moved to Clark Partington, also in Destin.  While still working full time, I obtained an LLM. (Master of Law Degree) in real property development from the University of Miami School of Law Robert Traurig – Greenberg Traurig Graduate Program in Real Property Development. In the program, I took advanced courses in residential and commercial financing, commercial leasing, environmental law, planning and zoning, construction law, condominium law and real estate project development.  Obtaining the LLM took years of hard work, in addition to my full-time legal practice, but the experience and knowledge gained has been instrumental in developing my legal practice.

In 2016, I was recognized as one of four yearly fellows with the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the Florida Bar.  I have also served in a number of officer positions, including president, of the Okaloosa County Bar Association, and was a past member of Okaloosa County Value Adjustment Board.  In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing at the beach, traveling, water activities, and spending time with family and friends.  I value practicing in the tight knit legal community along the Gulf Coast, and particularly enjoy working with friends, family and people from my community.
